16th Annual Abraham Penn Community Award

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

This year's recipient of the Abraham Penn Community Award is Ken Foster of Breakaway Oil. Named after the founder of Puritan Cape Cod, this award is presented to an individual whose actions exhibit Abe's two founding principles: service to the customer and service to the community.

In addition to opening and growing his three Breakaway Oil locations, Ken created the X-Grill in 2008. With some innovative engineering, he converted a retired oil delivery truck into Cape Cod’s largest mobile barbeque grill, which he uses to serve the community. Each year Ken donates the services of his X-Grill and his own grilling expertise to over 50 charitable and fundraising events. Ken dedicates most of his weekends to community service, helping to raise funds where they are needed most by local organizations all over Cape Cod.

Ken was nominated by the Dennis Chamber of Commerce for this award. The Dennis Chamber was given $1,000 for nominating our eventual winner.
